Rob’s style was excellent – very clear, open, engaging and interactive. The workshop gave people a lot more confidence and clarity about how to pitch and everyone learnt something new.”

Jo Hill, Development Manager

Pitching for Social Entrepreneurs

The Challenge

UnLtd is a charitable organisation that distributes awards of up to £20,000 to social entrepreneurs so that they can make their projects sustainable and ensure that they have ongoing social impact. Following a rigorous application and screening process, the final short-list of candidates have to pitch their projects to a panel of judges. None of the finalists had any experience of pitching in front of a panel and The Wow Factor was asked to design and deliver a bespoke one-day training programme to show best practice and increase the confidence of the finalists.

The Solution

A one-day training course was designed which had the specific objective of delivering a 5 minute pitch as the core theme. Topics such as what to say, how to say it and how to effectively use body language and voice were covered. As the panel could ask up to 15 minutes of supplementary questions, how to deal with these was also considered and strategies for answering tough questions were put forward.

The Result

Jo Hill from UnLtd reported back that "the response from participants was excellent with one person saying that it was the best personal development training she had experienced. Rob’s style was excellent – very clear, open, engaging and interactive. The pace of the workshop was good with plenty of opportunities for people to practise and reflect. The workshop gave people a lot more confidence and clarity about how to pitch and everyone learnt something new."
